The BMBF funds excellent, system-oriented and unconventional research and development approaches, which are oriented towards a medium to long-term horizon of the future, and which have a high research risk as well as a high level of novelty and complexity within the framework of the strategy process 'Agricultural systems of the Future'. The innovative agricultural systems, which are not yet realizable, should have the potential to secure the production of food and feedstuffs as well as biobased raw materials in a changing environment in a sustainable and resource-efficient manner.
