Sensor Validation for biotic and abiotic stress in barley breeding
Project
Project code: 0315530
Contract period: 01.01.2009
- 31.12.2014
Purpose of research: Basic research
Validation of sensors at breeding stations is of crucial importance for increasing the chances of the industrial success of the consortium. The main question to be answered is to what extent the obtained scientific results can be transferred to practical breeding conditions. For that, it is important to define and meet the requirements of future users. The involvement of the corresponding partners at the early stages of research is planned as an outsourcing, where the research will be carried out and validated at the breeding station under relevant practical operation conditions.
Goals:
Deployment of validation possibilities under optimal field conditions at dry locations and with high pathogen load.
Evaluation under field conditions of results obtained in laboratory and green-house.
Comparison of standards and core-set cultivars for breeding relevant cultivars.
Evaluation of sensors for their suitability for use in the breeding process.
Combination of genomics and sensor data for an efficient breeding of drought stress tolerant and pathogen resistance barley cultivars in practical conditions.
This project will provide optimisation and evaluation of sensors in the field in dry locations and locations with high pathogen load. Sensors will be evaluated for their suitability for use in plant breeding under practical operation conditions.
