Cooperative test to create a valid data basis for economic evaluation of herb-rich sowings used as biogas substrate in Bavaria 2011 - 2013
Project
Project code: K/11/01
Contract period: 01.01.2011
- 31.03.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
Increasing areas under maize silage as biogas substrate lead to claims for more biodiversity in the agricultural landscape. Perennial mixtures of wild species with agricultural crops offer long flowering and permanent soil coverage. Besides these beneficial effects for the environment, the mixtures could be used as biogas substrate reserve but data basis for Bavarian site conditions is still low. The field experiments will be established at eight sites and compare the mixture with a crop rotation with 50 % of the reference crop maize. The quality of the mixture biomass as biogas substrate will be validated in batch tests to estimate the methane yield per hectare.
