Development of a Covering Material from feedable raw material - Stage 2
Project
Project code: N/09/04
Contract period: 01.05.2009
- 30.04.2011
Purpose of research: Applied research
Silage is mainly used as animal forage or as biogas feedstock. Bunkers, trenches or clamps are mainly covered with plastic foils. Covering and the frequently uncovering such silage storages is expensive in labour costs. The developing of an innovative ‘edible’ silage covering system would be very interesting for reasons like cost reductions, labour protection and ecological protection. Such innovative silage covering should be usable for both, animal forage as well as biogas plants. It was the aim of a research project, conducted by the TFZ in co-laboration with LFL ITE and FEP to develop an innovative covering based on renewable raw materials and to assess its suitability for practice.
