Purpose of research: Basic research
The goal of sub-project S4 is the in vivo detection of water content and draught stress of agricultural crops by terahertz (THz) time domain spectroscopy. Implementing the innovative THz sensor technology (Fiber-coupled THz time domain spectrometer) will comprise industrial research as well as pre-competitive development of THz system components. Furthermore, compact device integration is planned to assure the usability of the measurement system in an agricultural application scenario. In the long term, the technological improvements achieved in this project may assist optimized breeding and cultivation so that a positive impact for the farming and crop production industry in form of a yield increase will result.
