National monitoring of biological diversity on farmlands. Subproject 'Development of technolgy' (MonViA)
Project
Project code: JKI-AT-08-1152
Contract period: 01.01.2019
- 31.12.2021
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
In MonViA, the Julius Kühn-Institute develops in close co-operation with the Thünen-Institute and the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food a broad-based farmland biodiversity monitoring for Germany. The joint project consists of three main parts: a) a general, national wide trend monitoring based on a systematic sampling grid, b) an in-depth, question-based monitoring on specific issues focusing on insects and c) a Citizen-Science monitoring, based on the participation of farmers, associations and interested citizens. In the subproject 'development of technolgy' scientific issus are investigated regarding the plant cultivation and application technology in the context of biodiversity on farmlands. Which of the factors and organisms are of importance and can be recorded automatically in the field has to be determined.
