Studies on chemically - ecologically mediated resistance in rapeseed against the pollen beetle Meligethes aeneus
Project
Project code: JKI-ÖPV-08-1381
Contract period: 01.09.2016
- 01.04.2019
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: pyrethroids, rapeseed beetle, resistance breeding
Using metabolite profiles and feeding assays with different oilseed rape lines, resyntheses and other Brassicaceae, key compounds will be identified which are directed against the pollen beetle. This alternative approach aims to control the pollen beetle by increasing the resistance in oilseed rape against Melighetes by breeding. Due to the strong resistance to pyrethroids and the limited use of other insecticides, alternative control strategies of the rapeseed beetle and other pest insects are urgently necessary in order to avoid severe crop losses.
