Purpose of research: Applied research
Copper pesticides have been using since more than 150 years in Germany. They are important pesticides in conventional and organic farming in wine, apple, hop and potatoes growing for control of downy mildew. Since 2011, the Federal Research Center for Cultivated Plants (Julius Kühn-Institute) is documenting continuously the efforts of minimizing copper and the search for alternative solutions. Our goal of research is the copper replacement and minimising strategy especially for organic farming because the application of this heavy metal is not sustainable.
