Accompanying research on plant oil fuelled tractors operated at Bavarian state test farms (BayTrak)
Project
Project code: BE/14/23 (EW/12/20)
Contract period: 01.07.2012
- 31.03.2015
Purpose of research: Applied research
There is a wide consensus of economic and ecological benefits of regional production and use of plant oil fuels in agriculture. Several years of research on various plant oil compatible tractors show prospective results in terms of engine performance, emission behaviour and overall technical reliability. With tightening of limiting values for tractor emissions, exhaust gas after-treatment systems are introduced, which have to be tested for their application on plant oil compatible tractors. Thus, it is the purpose of this research project to investigate various already operated and new plant oil compatible tractors in regard to operation characteristics, performance, fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions during field tests and at the tractor test stand.
