Project
Project code: 2806OE103
Contract period: 02.07.2007
- 30.06.2009
Budget: 114,626 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The use of portions of Duroc in fattening pigs is often recommended in organic pork production. It is the aim to investigate the effect of varying percentages of the genotype Duroc in organic fattening pigs on performance, carcass and meat quality. Therefore a total of 192 fattening pigs with 0%, 25%, 50% or 75% Duroc percentage are kept and fed under fully organic conditions in the years 2007 and 2008. The results should help to identify the optimal Duroc percentage in organic fattening pigs.
