Description
The major aim is to act as the national centre for the diagnosis of leptospirosis and to execute tasks as national and international reference laboratory.
Specific objectives are:
• Execution of the laboratory confirmation of suspected human leptospirosis cases.
• Maintenance of a reference collection of Leptospira strains and corresponding rabbit sera.
• Collection of epidemiological data and performance of surveillance.
• Provision of information and recommendations to (inter)national bodies such as the Dutch Ministry (via RIVM) and WHO.
• Execution of research and provision of knowledge-transfer
