Sustainable land use by regional energy and material flow management when using the Terra Preta technology on military conversion areas and low-yield sites (Laterra)
Project
Project code: JKI-ÖPV-08-1130
Contract period: 01.03.2011
- 30.04.2016
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
The interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary joint research project seeks innovative system solutions for resource efficiency, climate protection and area revaluation by means of an integrative approach. The project's fundament is set by implementing the zeroemission?strategy, launching a regional resource efficient material flow management as well as utilising 'Terra?Preta?Technology' as an innovative system component. The appliance of Terra?Preta?Technology and their ability to close material cycles as well as characteristics and potentials of TPS will be examined and researched in model regions, strongly affected by re-gional, economical, demographical and climatic processes. The goal thereby is to provide a sub-stantial contribution for sustainable land management in regions with significant shares of military conversion areas, low?yield?locations in post?mining? landscapes and highly damaged forestry areas caused by extreme weather phenomena.
