Equine precision cut lung slices as an in vitro model of obstructive airway diseases for the identification and characterization of drug targets
Project
Project code: BfR-ZEBET-08-1328-204
Contract period: 01.08.2007
- 31.07.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research
Pharmacological drug effects on obstructive airway diseases are studied using equine precision cut lung slices (PCLS). An in vitro model of passive sensitisation will be established to simulate allergic airway reactions of the equine lung. Serum of sensitised horses and the responsible allergens are added to PCLS to induce a bronchoconstriction. The model will be used to study drug effects on this allergic reaction.
