- 31.12.2021
Purpose of research: Applied research
The aim of the EU active substance testing is to harmonize the authorization of plant protection products in Europe. The Institute examined in the cases in which Germany rapporteur Member State for the EU active substance test is whether the active substance principle is suitable for use in plant protection products and participates in the creation of the active substance monograph. In the 'zonal authorization process', the Institute examines and evaluates the pending products as a central rapporteur for the entire zone, or for total Europe if it is for greenhouse applications, based on the documents submitted for the test areas efficacy and phytotoxicity. The result of evaluation is documented in a report for the respective EU-approved zone, coupled with a recommendation for approval decision for national implementation in Germany. These documents are then made available to the BVL for its further management decisions.
