Identification and combination of new resistances against BYDV and its vector the bird cherry oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi) in wheat
Project
Project code: JKI-RS-08-3392
Contract period: 01.02.2017
- 31.08.2019
Purpose of research: Applied research
Transmitted by aphids in the fall, barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) can cause substantial yield losses in winter wheat. One aim of this project is to identify new resistance sources to BYDV as well as resistance to its main autumn vector R. padi in a panel of wheat genetic resources already SNP genotyped. A genetic association study will be conducted in order to identify DNA markers of the resistances. Crosses will be made to combine BYDV resistance with resistance to R. padi in a good agronomic background.
