Development and testing of an overall concept to improve udder health on dairy farms. The aim of the project is to develop and establish, in cooperation with six dairy cattle farms in Lower Saxony, the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture and the Hanover University of Applied Sciences, an overall concept for improving udder health that can be adapted to the individual needs of each farm. (1) improve herd health and animal welfare at the same time, and (2) reduce the use of antibiotics and counteract the potential emergence of antibiotic resistance or reduce existing resistance. For dairy farms, a holistic and practicable udder health concept is important to ensure animal health and farm competitiveness. Within the framework of various scientific research projects, the effectiveness of various individual measures has been analyzed in the recent past. For a real innovation in practice, however, the integration of these measures into an overall concept and the operational preparation of this overall concept are missing. In the project, these innovations are to be made practicable and suitable.
