Development of a learning test for adult laying hens
Project
Project code: FAL-TT-02-SP-03-04a
Contract period: 01.08.2005
- 31.12.2006
Purpose of research: Applied research
Housing dependent changes in the structures of the brain should be reflected in changes of specific behaviours. Different studies in mammals (rats and mice) have shown that it is possible to investigate the function of the hippocampus using a passive avoidance tests. Until now there is no such a test available for hens. This test should offer the possibility to investigate brain regions at the behaviour level and is a basis for molecularbiological questions, e.g. on gene expression after learning.
