Rapeseed oil fuel as an energy source for the operation of a forestry harvester
Project
Project code: N/15/14
Contract period: 01.04.2016
- 31.12.2018
Purpose of research: Applied research
The use of rapeseed oil fuel (RK) instead of diesel fuel forestry can make an important contribution to climate protection and resource conservation, but also - due to the special refueling situation in the forest - for soil and water protection. The use of RK in machinery with Stage IV in forestry applications with the spec. requirements in terms of performance, robustness of the machines and climatic challenges has not been systematically evaluated.
A forestry harvester is to be adapted for operation with rapeseed oil fuel. The engine and exhaust after-treatment system is applied again on the test stand to operate with RK and optimized. The aim is to comply with the limits for gaseous and particulate emissions of the current emission level IV .
