Flowcytometrical analysis in the collections of the wild species and cultivars of the fruit gene bank
Project
Project code: JKI-ZGO-08-4138/5
Contract period: 01.05.2006
- 30.04.2009
Purpose of research: Applied research
The objective of the project is the determination of the DNA content within the collections of the wild species Malus, Pyrus, Prunus and Fragaria to determine the variation of the DNA content within one genus and to characterize the species hybrids. Potential correlations between genome size and geographical and morphological features should be studied. The second project aim is the determination of the ploidy level within the cultivar collections. The ploidy level represents an important descriptor characterizing the cultivar as a pollination partner.
