Further development of crop specific strategies for organic plant protection with the help of branch networks
Project
Project code: 2815OE095, 6005
Contract period: 15.08.2017
- 31.12.2023
Budget: 306,548 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
With its renouncement of herbicides and system-inherent preference of indirect plant protection measures organic farming is an important innovation model for sustainable plant protection. In order to implement plant protection strategies developed in other projects for individual crops more broadly and transfer these strategies to other relevant crops, to identify new needs for action for specific crops and develop solutions with involvement of practitioners specific networks for different crop branches for organic plant protection will be strengthened, further developed or - where none exist - established. The exchange between these branch networks will be supported. By doing so the objectives of sustainable plant protection will be addressed alongside the protection of biodiversity.
The expected results of the project are formulation of strategies for each crop or group of crops addressed in the project outlining concrete challenges for plant protection in organic farming as well as the measures required to overcome these challenges.
