Bilateral project - Design of environment-friendly sprayers for bigger fields
Project
Project code: JKI-AT-08-1111
Contract period: 01.01.2012
- 31.12.2013
Purpose of research: Applied research
Development of technical solutions for drift mitigation, for agitation systems and systems for sprayer cleaning for wheel sprayers. The structural change in Chinese agriculture causes a decreasing importance of knapsack sprayers; the demand for wheel sprayers is increasing. The aim of the project is to jointly develop environment-friendly sprayers which meet the needs of Chinese agriculture. Main points are:
- techniques for spray drift mitigation,
- practical methods and techniques for sprayer cleaning,
- optimisation of agitator performance and the development of a novel test method.
Therefore information visits and joint research studies are planned.
Several test stands and test methods are available at JKI. Those shall be used with Chinese scientists for the joint studies, in particular:
- wind tunnel for drift measurements,
- test stand and test method for agitation systems,
- test stand and test method for cleaning systems according to ISO 22368.
Field tests, i. e. drift measurements shall be conducted jointly in China.
For the joint studies it is necessary to exchange experts from JKI and CAU:
a)Experimental work of experts from China at JKI for periods of several months and
b)Visits of experts from JKI for discussion of results and evaluation of practical use of LRT in China for periods of several weeks.
