Development and optimisation of rapid methods, including matrix-specific sample preparation, for the qualitative and quantitative identification of microorganisms and for the replacement of lengthy culture-dependent methods
Project
Project code: MRI-FL-08-1030
Contract period: 01.01.2001
- 31.12.2015
Purpose of research: Basic research
Traditional microbial analyses of meat and meat products are time and labour intensive and, for these reasons, they are unable to meet current demands in the meat industry. Therefore, reliable molecular based rapid methods (identification by MALDI-TOF, specific PCR with and without prior enrichment, lateral flow systems, etc.) are developped for the qualitative and quantitative detection of microorganisms in combination with suitable matrix-specific sample preparations to replace lengthy cultural methods.
