cological effectiveness of perennial wildflower strips in Saxony-Anhalt for bees (Apidae)
Project
Project code: A02/2019
Contract period: 01.03.2019
- 28.02.2020
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: agri-environmental and climate means, agricultural landscape, biodiversity, wild plants, perennial flowering stripes, wild bees, honey bees
Against the background of the continuing massive decline in biodiversity, the investigation of factors influencing the success of Agri-Environmental Schemes (AES) is of great importance. The project investigates perennial wildflower strips in their 4th or 5th year which were established by farmers in Saxony-Anhalt within the framework of AES. By recording the vegetation on selected wildflower strips (20 isolated, 20 aggregated) at the end of the 5-year funding period, an optimisation of the species and mixture composition as well as further recommendations for the establishment and maintenance of the wildflower strips for future funding periods can be made. Furthermore, the ecological effectiveness of the wildflower strips for wild bees and honey bees will be evaluated in comparison to arable land without flower strips. The impact of aggregated flower strips compared to isolated flower strips as well as specific landscape ecological factors on bee occurrence will also be determined.
