Common European method for the determination of particulate matter emissions from solid fuel burning appliances and boilers (EN-PME-Test)
Project
Project code: 22032411
Contract period: 01.03.2012
- 31.12.2014
Budget: 139,253 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The research aims at the proper selection and validation of a European test method for the determination of particulate matter emissions (PME) from residential biomass combustion appliances. The method shall be general applicability for scientific evaluations, type and field testing, product developments and as reference method. The project aims creating a standard which allows to compare measurements form various applications or operators. The research is designed as a pre-normative action to provide a harmonized method for particulate matter determination. The project is scheduled to last three years.
Apart from the two German partners (TFZ and DBFZ), there are 11 other European partners from 9 European countries involved in the project. Their work is divided into 5 technical and scientific work packages (WP's): WP0 – Coordination, WP1 - Evaluation of existing methods and selection of suitable methods, WP2 - Detailed elaboration and validation of the suggested method, WP3 - Performance of round robin tests with the selected method(s), WP4 - Adaptation of the selected method to further applications, WP5 - Evaluation of the selected method.
