Institute of Landscape Ecology (ILÖK)
Institution
Section overview
Description
We at ILÖK are environmental scientists working on different ecosystem compartments and the functioning of landscapes as a whole. Relationships between biotic and abiotic environmental parameters as well as the processes on landscape level in the wake of changes in land use and global processes are within the focus of our work.
Activities
- Research
Parent institution
Coordinated projects
- Carbon4D: A landscape-scale model of soil organic carbon mineralisation in space, depth and time
- Contribution of fog deposition to water and nutrient cycling in a subtropical mountain cloud forest
- Grünschatz - Wild energy crops for the benefit of landscape and agriculture, WP 1 and 2
- Mechanisms of restoration of surface and subsurface biodiversity and ecosystem functions in grasslands following land-use extensification
- Probabilistic modelling of carbon dynamics in peatlands across longer time periods
- Promoting the biodiversity of insects in agriculture by avoiding chemical-synthetic insecticides and herbicides. Scientific accompanying examination of insects / arthropods
- Renaturation of peatlands of the nemoral zone under conditions of variable water availability and quality
