Identification and characterization of functional traits of probiotics in relation to their physiological effects
Project
Project code: MRI-MBT-08-MBT-78
Contract period: 01.01.2001
- 31.12.2016
Purpose of research: Experimental development
Probiotic microorganisms express strain-specific traits, which beneficially affect the phasiology of the host. These functional traits have been characterized genetically in few cases only. Through identification of microbial genes and metabolic properties, which are responsible for the expression of functional traits, a scientific basis shall be established regarding cause-and-effect of probiotic properties.
