Evaluating the impact of landscape structure and source-sink dynamics on non-target arthropod pesticide risk assessments in Germany (ELONTA)
Project
Project code: JKI-SF-08-1271
Contract period: 01.05.2020
- 28.02.2023
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Structural and functional heterogeneity of the landscape with the mosaic of both semi-natural habitats and cultivated fields controls species population dynamics in agro-ecosystems (Vasseur et al. 2012). In particular, pesticides can affect non-target arthropods (NTA) populations both within fields and in non-cultivated areas (through long-range effects), and their effects appear to be strongly dependent on landscape structure (Topping et al. 2015). Therefore, this project aims to elucidate the relationships between landscape structure, sink effects and the risk of pesticide use for NTAs.
