DURESTrit: Functional characterisation and validation of nonhost components in Triticeae species for durable resistance against fungal diseases
Project
Project code: JKI-ZL-08-3193
Contract period: 01.05.2014
- 31.05.2017
Purpose of research: Applied research
DURESTrit is an international consortium including NSF-funded partners, focussed on an in-depth fundamental molecular dissection of nonhost resistance in barley and wheat, which is unique within the European Research Area directly addressing two research themes of the first ERA-CAPS call, namely food security and biotic stress. The activities of JKI comprise (i) phenotyping of at least three different mapping populations (250 individuals each) and recombinants in a leaf-segment test with at least two different polyvirulent Bgh isolates and under greenhouse conditions at developmental stages BBCH29-30; (ii) mapping of SNP markers on the introgressions by using segregating populations of (i); and (iii) marker-based identification of recombinant offspring carrying Hordeum bulbosum introgressions of reduced sizes.
