Description
The Environmental Microbiology group, led by Prof. Josef Zeyer was established in November 1991 and employs about 10 senior scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and Ph.D. students. Our faculty and Ph.D. students have diverse professional backgrounds in areas such as microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, geochemistry, geoecology, environmental sciences, and contaminant hydrogeology. Research activities within the Environmental Microbiology group are divided into two general areas of interest, represented by our Subsurface Microbial Processes and Molecular Ecology divisions.
