Department of Geography (GIUB)
Institution
Section overview
Description
The Department of Geography has a rich history spanning 130 years of teaching and research. It is the largest and most distinguished Department in Germany, holding fourteen independent research units, which attend to a variety of geographical sections. Geomorhology, Hydrology, Development Geographies and Remote Sensing are just a few examples of our wide choice of research fields in Human and Physical Geographies. Each of our research fields is represented by at least one particular professorship. This enables us to provide our students a high quality and unique education. Specially, if they like to chose an interdisciplinary or an applied study-approach. Our research units become combined in the common interest of risk analysis that embodies one of three major research priorities at the Department.
