Project
Project code: BE/14/19 (EW/12/09)
Contract period: 01.05.2012
- 31.10.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
The energy transition from fossil and nuclear energy to renewable energy will change the country. As the expansion of wind-, solar- and bioenergy predominantly takes place in rural areas it will inevitably lead to changes of the landscape and the way of agricultural production. Thereby the energy transition becomes a social issue with cultural and ethical aspects gaining importance in the discourse. In this regard this project aims at developing a scientifically founded and practice oriented guideline for counsellors, educators and other stakeholders in the field of the energy transition leading towards a value-oriented communication. This guideline should include the most relevant ethical and socio-cultural aspects and propose a dialogical handling for future communication strategies.
The public discourse about the energy transition in rural Bavaria, is evaluated by the examination of various print-media, experts opinions and the views and opinions of farmers both gained in interviews and, additionally, three moderated group discussions about the energy transition in rural areas. In a second step the data are used to compile a criteria catalogue that includes the central ethical and cultural aspects of the energy transition discourse. To verify the catalogues suitability for the intended communication purposes it is implemented by the TFZ public relations department. This experience is used to develop a guideline to support a successful communication of the energy transition in Bavaria.
