Identification of Wheat dwarf virus tolerance in the barley genepool and their exploitation for breeding (VIRTOGE)
Project
Project code: 2818201315, JKI-RS-08-3403
Contract period: 01.11.2016
- 31.10.2019
Budget: 255,530 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The project aims at the identification of Hordeum genotypes with tolerance to wheat dwarf virus (WDV) by screening H. vulgare and H. bulbosum accessions using artificial virus inoculation in a gauzehouse/glasshouse and infection under natural conditions. Furthermore, the accessions are genotyped. Based on phenotypic and genotypic data, QTL for WDV tolerance were identified by genome wide association mapping (GWAS). KASP-marker were developed as a prerequisite for the marker-assisted introgression of WDV tolerance in adapted genotypes.
