Department of Breeding Biology and Molecular Genetics
Institution
Section overview
Description
Our division engages in the elucidation of the genetic base of traits, which are of interest for livestock breeding. We apply modern molecular biological, physiological as well as
statistical and computational methods.
Activities
- Research
Parent institution
Coordinated projects
- Collaborative project: FUGATO-plus - GenoTrack - high-throughput SNP typing for genomic selection in cattle, association studies and population genetic analysis of the bovine genome; Subproject Humbold University of Berlin
- Genome analysis of the rabbit for the identification and characterization of quantitative trait loci for carcass traits and meat quality
- Identification of the genetic causes of differentiated muscle characteristics, in particular water-binding capacity, using selected mouse lines
- Population genetic analysis and compilation of a genetic profile of Kabardian horse breed
