Development of a rapid method to detect Campylobacter on poultry farms and at abattoirs
Project
Project code: BfR-BIOS-08-1322-265
Contract period: 01.08.2007
- 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research
Aim of this project is the development of a rapid and robust method to detect Campylobacter spp. This method must be applicable on poultry farm and abattoirs. To fulfil this goal a LAMP (Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification)-method will be developed and applied for Campylobacter detection. To verify the quality, that method will be compared to a real-time PCR-method for Campylobacter detection. In a first step, sample preparation procedures and DNA-extraction methods have to be optimized. To detect Campylobacter spp. a LAMP (Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification)-method was established. Its sensitivity and specificity was detected. Results were compared with a real-time PCR method for Campylobacter spp.
