Section overview
Description
Cultural Anthropology (elsewhere called Empirical Cultural Science, European Ethnology or Folklore Studies) analyses everyday life, common environments and life-worlds of European societies in the past and present. It focuses on the reproduction and transition and transformation of routine cultural modes of perception, modes of construction, interpretation and behaviour, as well as on material objectification. Cultural Anthropologists work with different methods of ethnographic and historical research, for example, participant observation, qualitative interviews, the analysis of historical sources or mental maps.
