Section overview
Description
The University Hospital in Halle (Saale) has been a public-law institution since 1 January 2006 and unites the university’s state-of-the-art medical care institutions. It offers its patients the highest degree of medical care thanks to its wide range of specialised clinics and institutes. From a statistic’s point of view, every inhabitant of Halle visits the University Hospital twice a year for treatment. Patients come from far beyond the city’s borders for treatment by the hospital’s 2,850 employees and 210 trainees. Each year, around 38,000 patients are treated on an inpatient basis in the hospital’s 1,100 beds, and 400,000 patients are treated on an outpatient basis. Dedicated doctors, nurses, administration staff and external service providers look after the patients’ health and their recovery. The University Hospital offers an array of comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services and works closely with the Medical Faculty of the Martin Luther University. Patient care, teaching and patient-related research are the three pillars of the university’s medical institutions.
