Preservation of the original, natural CBD content of the hemp plant for long-term storage by evaluation and optimization of various drying methods of
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-BY-2020-PPGB
Contract period: 01.03.2020
- 30.03.2023
Budget: 389,733 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: plant production and horticulture, product/service
The aim of the project is the processing of three harvested hemp varieties Fédora, Férimon and Finola throughan established drying method for the preservation of CBD content and product quality. Under preservation of the natural high active substances and ingredients, individually adapted process conditions for the three analysed hemp species will be evaluated. Optimal condition (quality assurance) for storage stabillty concerning CBD and quality will be determined for the investigated hemp varieties. The reproducibility of the drying efficiency will be repeatedly tested through the project duration of three years. In addition, annual fluctuations of the natural CBD content of the studied hemp varieties will be recorded. The project shall contribute to high-priced values of the harvested product. This could lead to a stabilization and diversification of bavarian farms through new sources of income and an increase of the cultivation of hemp.
