In the project KIRa – AI-driven Platform for Plant Seed Classification and Sorting: Assessment of Seed Purity in the Scope of Oilseedrape modern machine learning and robotic sensor and sorting solutions are investigated, integrated into a combined platform and iteratively extended as a learning machine. Using the KIRa-Sorter an important agricultural domain will be optimized as a cooperative process between users and AI: We will automate, digitize, and develop the legally required purity testing in seed production. Thus, we will significantly increase efficiency compared to manually performed testing and improve the quality and especially the purity of seed. The resulting KIRa-Sorter could thus perspectively represent a product with high potential for commercial exploitation, whereby the individual components and their research and development will also yield innovative scientific results.
