Collaborative project: Development of an automated solution for the drone-assisted assessment of field trials - subproject 3 (AutoDGB)
Project
Project code: 2818407CNZ
Contract period: 01.10.2019
- 30.09.2022
Purpose of research: Applied research
Increased developments and research in sensor-assisted phenotyping provide a growing number of opportunities to reliably and objectively assess plant or canopy characteristics both qualitatively and quantitatively in a non-destructive manner. In addition, previous studies indicate that individual sensors (multispectral) can detect several features simultaneously. However, at the moment no practicable solution which would allow the independent collection and evaluation of sensor-based data is available on the market. The reason for this is the existing automation gap between the recording and the computing of the data. Therefore, the main goal of the project is to close this gap and develop a practicable, largely automated and optimized solution for the application of the drone-based assessment in the breeding of wheat.
