Collaborative project: UV disinfection and photocatalysis in poultry farming - Subproject C (DesGefUV)
Project
Project code: 281C403C21
Contract period: 16.05.2023
- 15.05.2026
Budget: 214,000 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: process engineering, poultry, stable climate, animal health, antibiotics
The aim of the planned project is the development and testing of a novel, combined process and the construction of a functional model for the optimization of the house air / house climate and thereby the general house hygiene in poultry farming by combining a physical and a photochemical process. This is intended to serve as an alternative to the use of antibiotics. The focus is on the development of a device for permanent conditioning of the house air (24/7). For this purpose, a device is to be developed which circulates the air and, by means of irradiation with UV light, results in both direct inactivation of aerosol-borne pathogens and irradiation of a photocatalytic surface which serves to break down air pollutants such as ammonia.
