Description
The Chair for Business Management, Organization and Information Management within the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Bonn involves about 15-20 people in research, teaching, and administration. Its research and teaching focus is on enterprises, organizations, supply chains and networks that constitute the agri-food sector apart from agricultural enterprises which are the focus of other groups in the department. The chair organizes, in cooperation with other universities, the annual ‘International Igls Forum Series on System Dynamics and Innovation in Food Networks’, an intensive workshop series endorsed by the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE). Prof. Schiefer heads the Management Board of the experimental stations of the University and is directly responsible for one of the stations. He is Director of the International Center for Food Chain and Network Research (FoodNetCenter) of the university and coordinates the Bonn-Wageningen Cooperation (BOWACO) as well as the cooperation with the University of Florida. He is coordinator of the 'International Network for Information Technology in Agriculture', a member of the Advisory Board of the 'European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture' and chairman of the working group 'Food Chain Management' in the European Technology Platform 'Food for Life'.
