The increasing requirements in mobility that in connected to modern lifestyles will lead to a raising need of in-frastructure and bridges in all new dimensions.
However, the building material timber does not experience the appropriate attention within the building market.
Bridges made of wood, like all other timber structures, are building measures with a profit for climate protection.
Wood has the potential to replace steel, concrete or aluminium, whose production is particularly CO2-intensive, and avoids the resulting emissions. This is why leading bridge building experts are predicting a good future for the natural product.
Premise, however, is to make aware of its outstanding qualities and to subject construction workers with the natural discipline of constructing with wood. The central strategy of the 'Offensive Holzbrückenbau' is the im-parting of knowledge. The aim is to increase the share of timber bridges in the growing bridge construction mar-ket.
