Functional traits are fundamental components in hybrid breeding programs in mother lines. Therefore they will be included in the existing breeding program, performance testing and breeding value estimation. Special focuse will be led on reproductive performance, health, and behavior traits. The breeding animals will fullfill social acceptance concerning animal care and animal welfare. Therfore the will be the basis of successful and sustainable porc marceting programs and anhance the economic efficiency and competitive ability of our local porc producers. This future trend is necessary for the preservation of our regional enangered pig breeds and offers the opportunity for a modern and seminal pig production in conventional and organic farms. - Improvement of balanced and vital litters - Improvement and sow behavior aand mothering ability - Reduction of suckling losses -Improved metabolic balance in sow and piglets Acquired data will be recorded and processed digitally and automatically
