Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-NRW-2017-LPT01, REFORDAT-427
Contract period: 01.01.2017
- 31.12.2019
Budget: 532,665 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, animal husbandry
In collaboration with partners from the production to the slaughter (pig farmers, fattening, customer) and in cooperation with consulting and science, improvement possibilities for the ecological pig farming with regard to animal losses, injury rates and biological achievements are to be found. Firstly, relevant indicators for the evaluation of animal welfare and animal health will be selected and the relevant data is collected on the farms and at the slaughterhouse. In the course of data consolidation and evaluation, guidance for the particular enterprises will be derived during the process. After the entrance and implementation of the selected measures on the farms a new data collection and evaluation shall be carried out, whereby conclusions can be drawn about the applicability and success of the different management measures. Finally, obtained findings can be the source for developing generalized concepts of action, which can be put into practice, as well as a source for a successful consultation concept. Both will contribute to the strengthening and expansion of ecological pig farming.
