Optimizing plant protection measures using agricultural meteorology (AM_Opti_PS)
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-SA-2015-LPPGSB01
Contract period: 01.01.2015
- 31.12.2017
Budget: 446,827 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, plant production and horticulture, pest/disease control
By using information on weather forecasts farmers could improve the efficiency of their plant protection measures. The project aims at providing the data base for a tool or model that could predict the effectiveness of growth regulators and plant protection products depending on the meteorological conditions at the time of application. To obtain reliable results the operational group will conduct three years of exact field trials. This model, which requires besides plant protection product specifications only meteorological prognosis as variable input data, could be integrated into ISIP or made available to farmers as a new advisory tool.
