Project code: EIP-Agri-2019-NRW-LPTTH
Contract period: 01.01.2019 - 31.12.2021
Budget: 499,899 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, animal husbandry, product/services

Optimal animal health in pig fattening is a prerequisite for sustainable, resource-saving meat production. Carcass findings and operational production indicators (daily increases, fattening days, veterinary costs, therapy index, etc.) serve as objective indicators of pig health. The more automated this data is collected, evaluated and available to the farmer as a decision-making aid, the more effective and faster can also be traded in the sense of a preventive animal health and animal welfare management.
By means of digitally supported findings data acquisition and intelligent algorithms (artificial intelligence (AI)) for the determination of meaningful indices, which are fed into an information system as needed, the decision-making processes of the farmers can be competently and purposefully supported.
The focus of this project is a highly automated, objective data collection in the slaughtering process and their intelligent linkage with information of the animal husbandry locations as well as a high usability of the information systems in the sense of a meaningful, highly available management aid.
