ANAPLANT - Updating of target values for plant analysis to determine the nutritional status of crops under the conditions in Saxony-Anhalt (ANAPLANT)
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-2022-SA-LPTSKB
Contract period: 01.01.2022
- 31.12.2024
Budget: 510,127 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, pest/disease control, fertilisation, climate change
A precise determination of nutrient requirements, e.g. by plant analysis, enables the nutritional status of a crop stand to be assessed. Nutritional deficiencies are revealed and can subsequently be remedied in a targeted manner by foliar fertilization. Stand-optimized fertilization improves soil and water management as well as resource efficiency. Balanced nourished plants are less susceptible to disease, more resilient to weather extremes, and enable higher crop yields. However, target values currently used for crop analysis are largely based on work done in the 1990s. Target values for organic farming or for individual varieties do not yet exist. An update and expansion of these target values is urgently needed due to the progress in breeding and the changing cultivation conditions with climate change. Previously valid target values are to be validated and updated, and for the first time, variety-specific and exemplary target values are to be established for organic farming. This should lay the foundation for optimized nutrient management under changing climatic and agricultural conditions.
