Applied Genomics: documentation, analysis and aquaculture potential of natural aquatic genetic resources: Arctic char populations (Salvelinus cf Umbla) in Germany
Project
Project code: 2807BM025
Contract period: 07.10.2008
- 31.07.2010
Budget: 132,555 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The stocks of Arctic charr in German Alpine and subalpine lakes were formed by restocking more or less anthropogenic. The project aims to identify possible initial populations. Subsequently, proposals for the derivation of a specific reconstruction of natural lake trout populations are provided. This is achieved by genetic comparison of samples of recent fish from at least six lakes on the one hand and scales of historical material of the same waters on the other hand possible. The differences will be described with the aim to carry out breeding experiments with the original lines and use the resulting offspring for stocking specific measures.
