The task of module 9 is to explore and monitor the sustainability of agricultural use of peatlands respectively areas with degraded soils, which have been ecologically improved through rewetting.
On this basis, including findings from other subprojects, an integrated approach for testing the sustainability of peat use strategies, i.e. the social connectivity, its environmental compatibility and economic benefits, will be developed. Through a scientific system approach, the relevant ecological, social and economic structures and interactions will be analyzed.
The module should also contribute to the analysis of interests and potential interactions between different user of peat sites or people that are affected by this use. Key stakeholders with their different perspectives shall be integrated in a comprehensive consultation process on specific peatland management strategies.
