Collaborative project: Online determination of hectolitre mass during threshing by analysing air filled pore volume in grain bulk. Subproject 1 (HeluPoKo)
Project
Project code: 28RF5025
Contract period: 16.06.2016
- 14.11.2018
Budget: 263,520 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
In the research project HeluPoKo a novel method for determining the hectolitre mass of grain in practical agriculture is to be established. Former experiments showed that the hectolitre mass correlates with the air-filled pore volume of a grain bulk. The stationary measurements of air-filled pore volume in grain bulks is to be adapted to the conditions in practical agriculture. The aim is to develop and test a device that can be used in both ways: autonomous and online on the combine harvester. The project is based on the following major work packages: - Construction of an experimental arrangement in the laboratory and tests on samples of grain ; Comparison with reference methods (Chondrometer, single particle measurement) - Tests with 100 l samples at grain delivery point - Measurement of samples with revised equipment in the laboratory - Defining of requirements for the device to be built - Determination and evaluation of pressure curves - Reference analysis on the grain samples and statistical analysis - Analysis of protection rights - Evaluation of varieties' influence on the measurement result - Construction of a test bench and stationary test of the online device, as like as test evaluation - Practical testing of the prototype during the grain harvest with sample collection - Repeated measurements on the same samples in the laboratory - Evaluation of the entire testing focused on measurement errors and disturbances - Testing the pre-production model in stationary and practical test with subsequent evaluation - Repeat measurements in the laboratory with subsequent evaluation of the entire testing
